The inspiration for this figure came from women seen in the Ivory Coast area where my daughter was living.  The fabric is authentic “African” fabric purchased in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, West Africa.  The beads and necklace were purchased at the “Marche” in Abidjan.  Babies are carried as replicated here.  Seeing the natives walk along the roads is an adventure in color!
